Overview:
The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components to ensure reliable and safe operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. The Electrician will support day-to-day maintenance activities and respond to electrical faults promptly to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, motors, control panels, and equipment.

  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.

  • Diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing tools and troubleshoot faults effectively.

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards, safety regulations, and company maintenance procedures.

  • Conduct safety checks and testing of electrical circuits, breakers, transformers, and distribution boards.

  • Assist in planning and executing electrical shutdowns, upgrades, and installation projects.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and documentation of repairs and inspections.

  • Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve electrical problems impacting operations.

  • Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of electrical tools, materials, and equipment.

  • Identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and enforce safe working practices at all times.

  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend improvements to electrical systems.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, installation, or industrial electrical work.

  • Experience in industrial, construction, mining, offshore, or plant environments is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Electrical Trade Test Certificate (essential).

  • Valid Wiremans License or equivalent (advantageous).

  • Electrical safety training and relevant compliance certifications preferred.

  • Valid medical fitness certificate (if required for site conditions).

Education:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).

  • Additional specialized training or courses in electrical systems, control systems, or industrial maintenance is an advantage.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.

  • Ability to interpret schematics, plans, and technical documents.

  • Skilled in using electrical testing equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, etc.).

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong safety awareness and risk-assessment ability.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle time-sensitive tasks.

  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments or confined spaces, if required.
