Job Overview

The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair work on structures, piping systems, and equipment used in Oil & Gas operations. The role supports maintenance, construction, and integrity activities while ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality, and industry welding standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on structural components, pipelines, brackets, supports, and pressure-containing equipment.

  • Execute SMAW, GTAW, MIG/MAG, and other welding processes in accordance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).

  • Interpret drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and fabrication plans.

  • Conduct weld preparation, alignment, fit-up, grinding, and finishing work.

  • Assist with installation and repair of mechanical and piping systems.

  • Ensure weld quality through visual inspection and compliance with NDT (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT).

  • Follow all HSE requirements specific to Oil & Gas environments, including hot-work permits and confined-space rules.

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and permit-to-work processes.

  • Report any defects, unsafe conditions, or deviations from welding procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification as a Welder (SMAW / GTAW / MIG / 6G or 3G4G qualification preferred).

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, marine, or industrial environments.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures.

  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, welding processes, and material properties (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys).

  • Knowledge of NDT acceptance criteria and welding quality requirements.

  • Valid safety certifications (BOSIET/FOET, HUET, Medical) for offshore positions.

  • Physically fit, disciplined, and able to work in challenging environments.
